JOHNSON, KOTT, MAYER, ZIMMERMAN, AND BOYER TAKE CHECKEREDS AT RANSOMVILLE SPEEDWAY

RANSOMVILLE, NY…Danny Johnson of Rochester, NY captured his fifth win of the season at Ransomville Speedway last Friday night aboard the Mighty Taco Modifieds. Johnson took the lead away from Todd Burley on lap 27 aboard his Roaring Twenties sponsored machine and captured the win in the Don Davis Auto World/Budweiser sponsored event.

Rick Hoctor jumped out to the early lead followed closely by Sam Crogan, Todd Gordon, Rich Vinson, and Burley. Gordon wasted no time as he charged to the front and took the lead on lap 6. Burley was in tow taking second behind Gordon. Gordon and Burley put on a great show for the fans as they battled side by side with Burley getting the edge on lap 14. Danny Johnson had advanced to third while Vic Coffey broke into the top five.

A lap fifteen restart found Johnson in second and on Burley's back bumper. These two brought the fans to their feet as they switched lanes back and forth battling for the lead. This duel between two of DIRT's top stars went on until lap 27 when Johnson made the pass for the lead just as the caution flew. The restart found Johnson maintaining the top spot and taking the win over Burley, Ricky Richner, Vic Coffey, and Billy Krull. Heat winners were Crogan and Hoctor. Making their first starts of the season were Scott Wood and Fred Cade.

The Queenston-Lewiston Duty Free Sportsman laurels originally went to Rob Kott as he had apparently picked up his first of the season. However, in post race inspections, Kott was found to have not conformed to the rules as written. Current points leader Chad Brachmann was awarded the win as he crossed the finish line in second place. Jeff McGinnis, Stewart Friesen, Randy Chrysler and Dave Schulz rounded out the top five. Heat winners were Friesen, Dan Lacey, and Kevin Wills.

Dan Mayer of Lancaster, NY captured his first career win aboard the Napa Prostock division. Mayer took the lead at the drop of the green and led the entire distance, holding off a late race challenge by Dan Shoop enroute to the victory. Shoop finished in second followed by Pat McCoy, Jason Boyle, and Mike Williams. Joe Stefanski, who came into the night leading the points, suffered mechanical difficulties and finished deep in the field resulting in Jason Boyle taking over the points lead. Heat winners were Mayer, Mike Williams, and Pat McCoy.

The Fish's Automotive Streetstock wins went to Mark Boyer and Randy Zimmerman. Boyer captured his first win of the season followed by Jerry Condren, Bobby Clare, Don Barnes, and Matt Gillingham. Zimmerman enjoyed his second win followed by Cory Sawyer, Alex Morris, Rick Gorhan, and Ken Washburn. Heat winners were Boyer, Washburn, and John Dietz.
