BICKNELL, BRACHMANN, BOYLE, CLARE, AND CLOSE CAPTURE WINS AT RANSOMVILLE
RANSOMVILLE, NY…Friday, July 27th, 2001…Pete Bicknell of St. Catherines,
Ont won his second Mighty Taco 358 Modified feature of the season on Sports
Depot night at Ransomville Speedway. Piloting his Zerex sponsored Bicknell
chassis, Bicknell took the lead away from Todd Burley on lap 11 and was never
seriously challenged after that point.
Todd Gordon brought the field down for the start of the 30 lap feature go and
quickly took the lead. Burley advanced to second while Bicknell broke into
the top five. While Burley challenged Gordon for the top spot, Bicknell moved
his way into third. A caution on lap 5 was needed for Vic Coffey who had a
shock go bad on his Sweeteners Plus #32c. Hats off to Coffey's crew as they
made the quick fix and got Coffey back on the track without losing a lap.
Gordon and Burley were side by side for the restart which found Burley
officially taking the lead on lap 7. Bicknell followed suit for second and
quickly moved in on Burley. A close battle took place for the top position
with Bicknell getting the edge on 11. Billy Krull and Danny Johnson broke
into the top five and were reeling in the leaders when a caution flew for
debris in turn two.
The final restart found Bicknell maintaining the lead while Krull challenged
Burley for second. Krull made the pass on Burley for second as Bicknell
picked up the feature win. Burley finished in third followed by Danny Johnson
and Ricky Richner. Heat winners were Burley and Rich Vinson.
