Dave Blaney Takes MOD feature At Sharon Speedway
LARSON, FERRINGER, HAEFKE AND YOUNG TOP A HOT SHARON NIGHT.

Hartford(OH)-That's right, on a rare weekend home Dave Blaney made a
appearance in Lou Blaney's, Syracuse car. With lightening in the skies and
a guest division of 358 Sportsman Modifieds the racing proved to be fast and
furious.
The Sunburst Environmental Sprint feature was won by Jarod Larson in the
Clemson Excavating sponsored number 47, with a =C2=BD lap lead over pole setter
Gary Edwards, driver of the Flynn tire number 61. Larson overtook Edwards on
lap 10 not to be challenged to the finish. During victory lane ceremonies
Larson exclaimed, "anytime the track is smooth and slick , the race is mine!"
Rounding out the top five was Edwards, Marty Ling, Andy Priest and Brad
Ellenberger. Heat winners: McKinney and Ling.
As the Gibson-Governor Insurance V-8 Modifieds took the green with Rex King
in the King Bros. Number 65 showing the way for the first 12 laps when
vacationing Dave Blaney made the crowed rise to their feet when he moved by
King on lap 13 to go on and score his first feature win at Sharon since 1999
when he did the same, forcing King to the second position with John Braymer
third, Tim Doran fourth and Dave Schrader topping out the top five. Heat
winners: Lou Blaney and Dave Blaney. Ray's Racing Specialties/ Bicknell

The time shortened Coy Bros. Trucking E-Mods was won by third place starter
Steve Haefke, Points leader Russ Dunn and outside pole setter Dave Ferringer
who was pulling doing double duty in both the Stock Cars and E-Mods brought
the 24 car field to the green with Dunn leading for the first seven go
arounds when eventual winner Haefke passed for the lead. Topping the top five
was Dunn, Scott Stiffler, Jim White and Bob McCann. Heat winners: McCann,
Willison, Jones.
When the Burghill Auto Salvage stock cars took the track it was the 7w of
Bobby Whitling and first time winner Dave Ferringer showing the way to the
green. With the drop of the flag Whitling jumped to the lead for the first 3
laps when Ferringer past on lap 4 holding on through 4 cautions to pick up
his first feature win in the 2001 season. Whitling who was running in the
bridesmaid position went wide in turn 4 allowing the R40 of Russ Kapalin to
sneak by for second forcing Whitling to third, Gary Robinson came home
fourth, with points leader Dwayne Clay fifth. Heats went to: Porter, Kapalin
and G. Miller.
Making their first time ever visit to the legendary =C2=BD mile was the
West-Penn Sportsman 358 Modifieds. Pole setter Dean Pearson brought the 21
car field to the checker leading for the first two laps when fourth place
starter Steve Young drove by on his way to the checker. With only one caution
to slow the action Pearson came on second, Randy Rodemoyer garnered the third
position, D J Schrader fourth and Billy Adams fifth. Heat winners: Al
Priester and Young.

Joining us next Thursday July 5th will be the 19th annual All Star
Sprints with our own Stock cars, with no racing to be held on Friday July
6th. Our next Friday night's mightiest will be July 13 with Dwarf Cars and
V-8 Modified autographs.
Also Slated to visit America's oldest running dirt track will be the Macs
Late Models and York Sprints on Wednesday July 18th.
On a special note track promoter Ed Skillman announced that Tom Burns
owner of Double Technology who was to sponsor the Double Tech Halfway
Challenge decided to withdraw his sponsorship for the event. However Skillman
would like the competitors to know that Sharon Speedway will honor the award
at the Speedway banquet held on January 19th.
For the first time, Sharon Speedway is offering a discount general
admission ticket to groups of 25 people. For more information on the group

The four divisions of racing plus special event classes will continue
through August with the Autograph night for the E-Mods being rescheduled for
June 22nd. Rounding out the 2001 season will be the 21st Annual Sharon
Nationals held Labor day weekend September 1st and 2nd.
Admission prices for Friday Night's Mightiest shows with the Grandstand
Adult ticket of $10.00, Juniors (13-16) $5.00, Kids 12 and under FREE!, and
with FAMILY PASS consisting of 2 adults and up to 4 children (16 and under)
for $25.00. Pit Gate admission remains at $20.00. Regular shows only. Gates
open at 5:30 with racing at 7:30.
