Braymer, Ellenberger, Dunn, Clay, Buttle Win At Sharon

Hartford(OH)-Freddie Kruger couldn't keep the crowd or the racers from
shining on this superstitious evening at Sharon Speedway. Picking up his
first feature win of the season was John Braymer in the mighty V-8 Modifieds
and Brian Ellenberger in the 410 Sprints. Russ Dunn marked up his third
feature in the time shortened E-Mods with Dwayne Clay picked up his fifth win
in a very close stock car feature. Visiting Dwarf car division was captured
by Rich Buttle marking his first win since last August.
Bringing the Sunburst Environmental Sprints to the green where, Brian
Ellenberger and Mike Kekich, as the green fell Ellenberger jumped into the
lead with Kekich in hot pursuit. Not to be challenged Ellenberger pulled away
to a comfortable lead with the real race for second as Kekich held onto the
second spot to the halfway mark when Andy Priest came from his 6th place
starting position to garner the bridesmaid position on the 11th circuit. The
battle then was on for the third spot when Jarod Larson dueled with Kekich
with Larson securing the position on lap 12. Rounding out the top five was

As the mighty Gibson-Governor Insurance V-8 Modifieds took the track with
John Braymer at the point, who was not to be denied his first feature win of
the season as the event went flag to flag. Jim Weller coming from his 4th
hole pressured Braymer throughout the 20 lap romp, only to fall short. Lou
Blaney coming from his 6th starting spot worked his way to the third position
with Harold Michaels forth and Rex King rounding out the top five. Heat

Friday the 13th proved to be the downfall of the Coy Bros. Trucking
E-Mods as they went to the 30 minute time limit for the third time this
season and the second time in a row for this division. After the fourth
attempt to start the show, Shawn Domhoff showed the way for the initial lap.
Scott Jones, moving up from his 9th place starting position, then powered his
way into the top spot for the next 9 go arounds, only to lose his lead to
Russ Dunn who coming from deep in the pack on lap 11. With time expiring on
lap 12 it was Dunn, topping the field with Jones, Steve Haefke, Domhoff and
Larry Walters rounding out the top five. Heats went to: Coy, McCann

The best show of the night was the evening was the Burghill Auto Salvage
Stock Cars with Russ Kapalin and Darrell Moody bringing the 25 car pack to
the green. Kapalin motored to the lead with Moody in hot pursuit for the
first five laps. As lap six came it was Moody slipping by Kapalin for the
lead for laps 6 and 7. Eleventh place starter Shawn Hooks the snatched the
lead for laps 8 and 9 with Moody coming back to the top spot for laps 10 and
11. With lap 12 coming onto the scoreboard it was Dwayne Clay capturing the
lead on a restart following a caution showing the way for his fifth win of
the season. Moody, Kapalin, Tom Miller and Gary Robinson brought home the top

The Dwarf Cars made their second appearance of the season at the speedway
this evening with Rich Buttle topping the field in a hard fought battle that
lasted the entire race with Craig Drown. Coming home third was Eric White,
Calvin Clay and Jim Golden rounding out the top five. Heat winner: Jones

The big announcement of the evening was the cancellation of the Wednesday
July 18th MACS Late Model/York Sprint show. Joining us on Next Friday July 20
will be our Friday Night's Mightiest plus Micros and Parking lot drags.
For the first time, Sharon Speedway is offering a discount general

The four divisions of racing plus special event classes will continue
through August with the Autograph night for the E-Mods being rescheduled for
June 22nd. Rounding out the 2001 season will be the 21st Annual Sharon
Nationals held Labor day weekend September 1st and 2nd.
Admission prices for Friday Night's Mightiest shows with the Grandstand
Adult ticket of $10.00, Juniors (13-16) $5.00, Kids 12 and under FREE!, and
with FAMILY PASS consisting of 2 adults and up to 4 children (16 and under)
for $25.00. Pit Gate admission remains at $20.00. Regular shows only. Gates
open at 5:30 with racing at 7:30.
