Lake Moc-A-Tek Victories To Rudalavage, Stout

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE LAKE MOC-A-TEK SPEEDWAY

Chris Piasecki, Nate Evans, And Davey Franek Too

(Lakeville, Pa.)Saturday night racing action at the Lake Moc-A-Tek

Speedway saw some new faces grace victory lane for the first time in

2001. Jason Rudalavage earned his first victory of the season in the 30

lap 358 Modified feature, while Ted Stout won his first career open wheel

feature in the Sportsman ranks. Chris Piasecki returned to Lake

Moc-A-Tek in a big way, winning both the regularly scheduled and

held-over Street Stock features. Second generation teenage sensation

Davey Franek was also a first time winner in 250cc Micro Sprint

competition. Nate Evans won his third Pure Stock feature of the season

as well.

The win by Jason Rudalavage was a hard-fought victory. Over the

second half of the event, Jason, piloting his family owned Highway Auto

Salvage/Cousin's Convenience Stores sponsored #2R, was under heavy

pressure from three time winner already this season and current point

leader Mike Ricci. Ricci pressured Jason high and low, but Jason never

cracked under the pressure, driving a perfect race to keep Ricci behind

him. Mike made a final charge off the fourth turn on the final lap, but

Rudalavage had him covered and sprinted to the win by about a car length

over Ricci. Bernie Griffin, Ed Strada Jr., and Nick Barassi completed

the top five. Positions six through ten went to Tom Rudalavage, Brian

Malcolm, Tom Oleski, Dom Roselli, and Bobby Puckett.

Thornhurst, Pa.'a Ted Stout picked up his first career open wheel

feature victory in the Sportsman division feature. Stout, a multiple

feature winner in the Street Stock ranks before making the move to

Sportsman at the beginning of the 2000 season, took advantage of an

up-front starting position to dominate the event, leading every lap

aboard his Stout's Bussing sponsored #27 Tauschman's Fabrications built

Sportsman entry. Brad Grammes finished second to Stout, but was unable

to challenge Ted for the top spot. Rocky Rosetti had another strong run

to finish third. Greg Morgan and Bob Grammes completed the top five.

Tom Gervasi, Ralph Mele, Mike Marrold, Darren Stout, and Ron Shauger

completed the top ten.

Chris Piasecki made his first Lake Moc-A-Tek start in several

seasons on Saturday night and it turned out to be a memorable night as

Chris drove to victory in both the held-over feature from the previous

week as well as in the regularly scheduled feature. The held-over

feature was the first event of the evening and saw Piasecki take the win

after a battle with Jim Sykes. Chris got the better of battle to come

home the winner over Sykes. Mike Loney crossed the line third with Jarry

Liford and Chuck Lowe completing the top five. Adam Jones, Neil DiBlasi,

Mick Petrilak, Joe Krisovich, and Bill Saxe made up the rest of the top

ten.

The regularly scheduled feature looked remarkably similar to the

held-over one in that Piasecki and Sykes were once again battling for the

top spot as the laps wound down. This time, though, a lapped car would

play a major factor. The lapped car refused to heed the passing falg and

continued to block the race leaders. Sykes and the lapped car made

contact, which resulted in a falt tire on Sykes; right front. Jim tried

to limp to the finish with the flat, but came up a lap short. Once Sykes

was eliminated, Piasecki cruised to his second win on the night. Nick

Petrilak finished second withTom Herman third. David Luff anf Mike

VanTassel made up the rest of the top five. Ed Kudrako, Adam Jones, Bill

Saxe, Rick Smith and Jerry Liford completed the top ten.

Nate Evans picked up the victory in the Pure Stock feature, his

third of the season at Lake Moc-A-Tek. Franklin Bush was the highest

finishing four cylinder car as he crossed the line second behind Evans.

Andy Belles, Floyd Schmidt, and Todd Hotaling completed the top five.

Keith Villano, Ron Blake, Eric Schmidt, Jason Martin and newcomer Greg

Bridges completed the top ten.

Fourteen year old Dave Franek Jr. picked up his first career Lake

Moc-A-Tek victory in 250cc Micro Sprint action. The second generation

star ran down Kevin Nolf and passed him for the top spot late in the 20

lap feature event. Nolf finished second with Mike Keppler crossing the

line third. Chris Oraschin and Jason Frantz rounded out the top five

finishers. Stephanie Stevens, Ed Krupa, Greg Sevens, Dan Colaluce, and

Fred Crist made up the remainder of the top ten finishing order.
