Mike Ricci Takes Season Opener At Lake Moc-A-Tek

Kingston, NY's Mike Ricci came home the winner of the 358 Modified

feature last Saturday night at the Lake Moc-A-Tek Speedway. The

defending speedway champion wasted little time in establishing himself as

the man to beat as he drove his Apple Greens Golf Course sponsored Teo

ProCar to a convincing victory. Ricci started deep in the filed and

worked his way steadily forward, passing Ed Strada Jr. for the top spot

just past the halfway point in the event.

As the race wound down, Ricci found himself being challenged by

Robbie Green for the top spot. The closing laps of the event saw Green

applying heavy pressure to Ricci, but Mike never wavered, holding Green

at bay as the laps wound down to take the win. Ricci added his regular

Saturday night track to his list of opening night victories as he has won

the season opener at two other tracks prior to Lake Moc-A-Tek opening.

Early leader Ed Strada kept his Sharkey's Fuels sponsored #42 in the

hunt the entire distance to record a solid third place finish. Nick

Barassi worked past Boby Puckett late to take the fourth spot with

Puckett hanging on to fifth place. Dom Roselli, Joey Grammes, Bill

Thornton, Russ Strausser ,and rookie Brian Cobb completed the top ten.

Racing team. On Saturday night, Brad added his name to the list of

Grammes family members to win at Lake Moc-A-Tek as his 15th career start

saw him score a flag to flag victory in the 20 lap Sportsman feature.

Brad survived challenges from both Alex Knopka and defending champion

Ralph Mele on his way to victory. In victory lane, Brad dedicated the

win to longtime family friend and team member Eddie Meckes, who recently

passed away. Alex Knopka finished second woith Ralph Mele, Rocky

Rosetti, and Dave Leyshon completing the top five. Anthony Reggie, Mike

Marold, Kevin Crouse, Tom Gervasi, and Bob Grammes completed the top ten.

Defending track champion Mike Loney started off the season right as

he picked up the win in the 20 lap Street Stock feature. Loney started

on the pole by virtue of a heads-up start and led all the way to pick up

the win. Adam Jones passed newcomer Rick Lazar late for second place

with Lazar bringing the Moore Tire Center #8 home third. Joe Krisovich

and Mike VanTassel completed the top five.

grabbed the lead early and was not headed from that point on. Eric

Schmidt finished second ahead of Franklin Bush, Phil Villano, and Ira

Landrum.

ever appearance at Lake Moc-A-Tek. Schaffer and Richie Hartman swapped
