Barnes-Kasson Night at Penn Can Speedway. Jim Sherman, Dick Vauter, Bill
Hawkins, Mike Stoddard
and Ray Scigowski also won on a cold night at the speedway.
Jeff Bronson jumped out to an early lead in the Modified feature. Mike
Colsten started deep in the field and he steadily started to pick off
positions one by one. Within 14 laps, Colsten was on Bronson=92s rear bumper.
Colsten worked on Bronson, outside and inside
before blasting past him in the outside groove with only 4 laps to go.
Colsten pulled away from Bronson and won his second feature of the season.
Bronson came home second with Butch Tittle third, Bill Huff in Fourth and
Brian Weaver rounded out the top
five.
Jim Sherman finally found some luck. He has had a string of bad breaks
within the last couple of weeks. He led the entire Late Model feature for
his first victory of the season.
Behind him, the other Late Model driers were battling three and even four
wide out of the turns. At the end, Jeremy Stone came home in second
followed by Bill Marvin,
Gene Sharpsteen, and Alan Coy.
The Street Stock feature was filled with family action. Dan Vauter and
his father Dick filled the front row. Dick pulled out to an early lead,
leading every lap and winning his first feature of the season. Dan feel
back through the field and finished 11th. Joe Domiano had his best ever
finish, coming home in second place and Tracy Gregory cam
home in third. Rich Keehle and Chris Piasecki rounded out the top five.
Bill Hawkins led the entire Pure Stick enroute to his second feature
victory of the season. Jeff Cleveland tried to get by but he could not,
landing him a second place finish.
Chad Stone ran third followed by Brian Decker and Ken Sparks. Mike Stoddard,
like the other two features, won the IMCA Modifed feature after leading the
entire race. Steve Hartman, last week=92s winner, came home in second
followed by Mike Bungay, John Conway and Cory Fachini.
In addition to the regular five classes at Penn Can the Legends cars were
in action as well. Ray Scigowsky won his first ever feature at Penn Can.
