McKee Is 8th Different Winner At OCFS In '97

Middletown, NY: 6/15/97...There is yet to be a repeat winner in the big block modified division at the Orange County Fair Speedway in 1997 as Chuck McKee became the Bth different winner when he went wire to wire to win the WLR Construction 30 lap main Saturday night- McKee, started on the pole after early race crashes eliminated him twice and motor problems sidelined him last week prior to the feature. The "Plum Crazy" #265 would not be denied this night as he built up a full straightaway lead on two separate occasions before he recorded his 8th career feature win here. Loren Holland, Jr. chased McKee from lap two to the finish, but had nothing for the leader J.D. Taylor, in possibly his best ever modified run, finished 3rd while Danny Johnson came on late to take 5th ahead of Steve Dodd. Johnson took over the point lead by two as former point leader Jeff Heotzier finished 7th.

The 15 lap DIRT Sportsman feature saw Tom Hall of Mt. Kisco, NY take the lead on lap 1 1 and power away for his first win of the season. Hall was the 7th winner in 8 races this season. Lem Atkins crossed in second followed by Tony Paes, current point leader Jimmy Johnson and Greg Sleight.

All time feature win leader in the Street Stocks at Orange County, Scott Kehr of Hillsdale, NJ won for the second time this season in the 12 lap Novice feature while Wayne Eckerson of New Hampton, NY won for the first time ever in the 10 lap Rookie class main event. Kehr posted his 34th career checkered flag to lead current point leader Tom Cannizzaro and John Platania by 4 wins.

The 358 modifieds return this Saturday night for a full 4 division program. Racing will begin at the usual 7pm starting time.
