Jashembowski Biggest Benefactor On Kensington Night at OCFS
Middletown, NY: 6/7/97....The car may be plain with only a number on the side, but Frank Jashembowski of Middletown, NY made the most of the opportunity to take home some significant money Saturday night at the Orange County Fair Speedway when he won the Kensington Manor 30 lap big block feature- For "Frankie J-", it was his first win since August of last year and he pocketed an additional $1,000 for the win and, by crossing the line second in the Dash For Cash, took home $600- The bonus money was put up by the night's sponsor, Kensington Manor.
In a feature that saw only one caution flag, Jashembowski took the lead on lap 17 and then held off a persistent Rick Mill before he could claim his 8th career feature win here. Frank Cozze, Bobby Hayes, Jr. , and Chris Whitehead completed the top five in a night that saw Mill, Hayes, and Cozze all win $1200 or more- Kensington Manor also put up bonus awards of $500 and $200 for the 2nd and 3rd place finishers.
The DIRT Sportsman feature was lengthened to 20 laps, but it didn't change the outcome as Alan Houghtaling of Hyde Park, NY claimed his first ever checkered flag at Orange County. He picked up a Kensington Manor bonus of $1,000 as well. John Ferrier's 2nd place finished netted him an extra $500 while 3rd finishing Chris Shultz claimed an extra $200 - all from Kensington Manor.
Kensington Manor added $500 for each street stock winner and $200 for second. Current point leader and defending Novice class champion Tom Cannizzaro of Stone Ridge, NY passed all time feature win leader Scott Kehr in the final turns to take the 12 lap run. The 10 lap rookie event went to Cliff Tinnelly of Mt. Hope, NY For each driver, it was their third win of the season.
The modified Dash For Cash was taken by Bob Hayes, Jr. of Valley Cottage, NY who received $1,000 from Kensington Manor for his effort-The bonus money from Kensington Manor reached the Enduro ranks as well as Earl Paulus of Kunkietown, Pa, picked up a $500 bonus for the 25 lap win and Roy Heater picked up an extra $200 for finishing second.
