DAVEY MOORE WINS RANSOMVILLE MAIN EVENT
Davey Moore of St. Anns, Ont. picked up win number 2 in '87 at Ransomville Speedway on Ground Round Restaurant and White Mountain Cooler Night. Moore started in 6th position and was able to hold off last lap challenges from Danny Johnson for the victory. At the start of the 30 lap main event, Bill Torrisi of Tonawanda jumped into the number one spot over Mark Elsie and Rick Hoctor.
Moore who started in 6th along side of Brian Stevens was able to race into second on lap 2 and raced around Torrisi for the lead on lap four. Once in command Moore opened up a lit-
tle breathing room while Danny Johnson who began his
assault back in 15th spot was on the move.
Johnson used the extreme outside of the speedway to pick off his positions and on lap 21 the caution bunched the field together. Moore kept command on the restart but Johnson was coming, off the turns Danny would slingshot the straightaways and close in on Moore's Sun Collision 6. John- son got alongside of Moore on four occasions but Moore was able to hold strong and with four laps remaining the last caution was waved for Rick Hoctor who stalled on the speedway. Moore was able to keep control of the race with Johnson finishing a close second over Jimmy Begolo of Thorold, Ont.
Brian Stevens and Pete Bicknell both of St. Catharines rounded out the top 5. Qualifying heats were won by Brian Stevens, Davey Moore and Dan Rizzardo.
In the 20 lap 6-cylinder Sportsman feature, Roy Susice of Ransomville picked up win number four. Dave DiPietro of Lewiston, NY brought in his finest performance of the season with a fine runnerup sot over Bill Dominey of St. Catharines. Point leader Ricky Richner was fourth with Conrad Baker of Ridgeway, Ont. rounding out the top 5.
In the 12 lap bomber main event, Mike Lane of N. Tonawanda, NY picked up his first feature event of his career. Bob Rosati was second and Scot Kerwin of Newfan- e third. In the 5 lap amateur feature, Howard Mnt. Pleasant picked up his first career victory over female driver Roberta Woefel of Sanborn, NY.
PIT NOTES: New 6-cylinder present piloted by Joe Stefanski and Bob Snyder. Danny Rizzardo continued with mechanical problems in the Daughterty Ent. 99. DIRT Sportsman cars will compete in addition to the Modifieds, 6-Cylinders, Bombers and amateurs. Sunday July 19th will mark the annual Summer Enduro 100 along with 6-cylinder and bombers GROUND
