Holden Takes Lumadue Memorial at Hidden Valley Speedway

Clearfield, PA - The Fourth Annual Fay Lumadue Memorial for the Small Block Modifieds saw Hayden Holden of Tiona become the fourth different driver to win the event that honors a former driver at the speedway. Fay Lumadue passed away in 2020 due to complications from COVID while he was putting a new car together for the upcoming race season. He was a former driver at the speedway and other area tracks over the many years he raced.
Other feature winners included first timers: Dan Gill of Clearfield in the Semi Lates and Joe Huber Sprankle Mills in the Little’s Drive In Four Cylinders. Other winners included Brandon Connor of Penfield in the Penn-Ohio Pro Stocks, Tim Steis of St. Mary’s in The Pure Stocks and Dakota Shugarts of Clearfield claimed another win in the Junior Four Cylinders. The Vintage Modified feature winner was Wally Stock of Kecksburg, while Bill Stile of Muse was the Sportsmans Modified winner and West Virginia's Brian Lederhouse won the Vintage Stock Car main.
Chris Hackett and Luke Hoffner brought the Semi Late Feature to the green flag, with Hackett taking the lead and Hoffner settling into second, with Danny Gill in third. While Hackett was setting the pace, Gill was working on Hoffner, trying to grab second, while fifth place starter Gary Little was trying to get around Josh Henry. As Hackett was opening a slight lead, Gill was able to get by Hoffner on lap three for second when Henry spun in the turn to slow the field. The race then resumed with Hackett still leading and Gill a close second as Little was trying to get around Hoffner for third. The door-to-door action was a great race, but allowed Hackett to open up a comfortable lead, when he dropped off the pace and brought out the final caution on lap 13. He pitted and was out for the rest of the race, while Gill inherited the, but his win was anything but easy, as Little was able to get by Hoffner on lap 16 and he set his sights on Gill, but Little ran out of time as Gill went on to get his first win of the season. Little was second, Hoffner was third, Jeremy Lippert was a solid fourth and Chad Roughex had a successful run coming in fifth. Heat wins were won by Craig Bainey and Little.
The race of the night, the Four Annual Fay Lumadue Memorial for the Small Block Modifieds saw Craig Casher and Trent Ogden on the front row as Sam McClellan threw the green flag. It was Casher taking the lead and Ogden in second with Hayden Holden in third and Bob Garvey Jr. in fourth. Jimmy Holden rounded out the top five. Cashier was holding on to the lead then on lap three, Ogden broke, and coasted to a stop. This regrouped the field with Casher still the leader and the Holden’s in second and third. While working lap six, Hayden Holden went to the outside of Casher in turns three and four and Jimmy Holden took the low line, and the three leader entered turn four, three wide, with Hayden Holden taking the lead off turn four and his dad now in second. This dropped Casher to third. The rest of the memorial race saw Hayden Holden hold off his dad and cross under McClellan’s double checkered flags for his first ever win in the Fay Lumadue Memorial. Jimmy Holden was second, Cashier was third with Kyle Fink fourth and Shannon Casher fifth. Heat wins went to Jimmy Holden and Bob Garvey Jr.
The Penn-Ohio Pro Stock feature saw Allen Lamb and Fuzzy Fields on the front row, with Lamb taking the lead at the start and then Fields battling into the lead a lap later. The race came to a yellow when Jim Bloom threw a drive shaft on the backstretch and he spun in turn three, quickly bringing out a red. The drive shaft injured Bloom who required medical attention immediately as Glendale Fire Dept. and QRS and Madera EMS rushed to the scene. Bloom was transported to Penn Highlands, DuBois Trauma Center with an arm injury. The race resumed after a while due to the treatment required and saw Fields still in the lead, with Brandon Connor second. Fields nearly spun on lap five, giving the lead over to Connor who went on to get the win over Fields, Lamb, Bloom and Jim Challingsworth. Connor won the heat.
The Pure Stock feature was led to the start with Ryan Jones and Chris Myers on the front row, with Jones taking the lead and setting the pace. Myers was a close second and Tyler Rougeux sat in third. On lap six, Tim Steis was able to wrestle third away from Rougeux and he set his sights on Myers. By the 10th lap, Steis was second and reeling in Jones. On the 13th laps, Jones broke, and Steis would lead lap 14 before Jones pitted and ended his night. Steis would hold on to the lead the final two laps to get his fourth win of the season. Myers was second with Mitch Stiles, Rougeux and Ryan Shaffner completing the top five. Heat wins went to Steis and Stiles.
The Little’s Drive In Four Cylinders saw Greg Snell and Cole Huber on the front row, with Huber taking the lead and eventually he lost the lead to his dad, Joe. Once Joe had the top spot, he had to hold off Luke Hoffner who moved into second on lap 8, but could not find the speed to get the win. The top five included Joe Huber, Hoffner, Ryan Lippert, Cole Huber and Jason Elensky. The heats were won by Elensky and Lippert.
The Junior Four Cylinders saw Andrew Dysard on the pole with Blake Little on the outside pole. At the start, Little took the lead, with seventh place Dakota Shugarts coming to the front. On lap three, Shugarts took the lead and he brought Draven Reid along, as Reid moved by Little into second and that is how they finished. Seth Fulmer was third, Little was fourth and Dysard was fifth.
The Old Skool Vintage Modifieds saw Sportsman drivers Bill Stile and Bob Alcorn on the front row, with Alcorn leading the opening three laps, before Wally Stock put his vintage modified in the lead and took the eventual win in the modified portion. Stile would be the first Sportsman to finish for that class.
In the Old Skool Vintage Stock Cars it was Brian Lederhouse leading the race at the double checkered flags with Bill Coada in second.
