Matt Sheppard outruns Short Track Super Series Elite field for triumph at Utica-Rome Speedway
Matt Sheppard won the 50 lap Short Track Super Series Elite New Yorker 50 at the Utica-Rome Speedway on Sunday. This was Matt's twenty-seventh win of the season, eleventh at Utica-Rome Speedway this year, and second Short Track Super Series Elite win of the season. For the 41 year old Sheppard it was their seventy-first win putting him first on the Utica-Rome Speedway win list since 1996. Finishing 1.1140 seconds behind in second was Billy Decker. This was Billy's fifteenth Top 5 of the season, eleventh at Utica-Rome Speedway this year, and first Short Track Super Series Elite Top 5 of the season. Finishing third was Rocky Warner, their seventh top 5 of the year. Finishing fourth was Andy Bachetti, their twenty-third top 5 of the year. Finishing fifth was Jimmy Phelps, their twelfth top 5 of the year. Marc Johnson, Mike Trautschold, Alex Yankowski, Alex Payne, and Mat Williamson rounded out the top 10.
