Mat Williamson Captures Volusia Speedway Park Victory
Under the Florida lights, Mat Williamson put on a show at Volusia Speedway Park, taking the victory in the DIRTcar Nationals DIRTcar Nationals Night 3. advancing from third, Williamson found the front when it counted. The triumph was worth $5,000.
Alex Payne of Canandaigua, NY was the best of the rest, crossing the line in second, crossing the line 3.7810 seconds behind the leader. Jack Lehner of Saratoga Springs, NY rounded out the podium in third. Alex Yankowski of Covington Township, PA (4th) and Justin Haers of Phelps, NY (5th) had strong runs.
Justin Haers was the biggest mover, gaining 19 positions to finish fifth. Qualifying honors went to Felix Roy (17.136 seconds), but Justin Stone secured the pole position for the start. Joining the front row was Matt Sheppard, who started second. Mat Williamson set the fastest lap of the race with a time of 18.694 seconds. Matt Sheppard, Erick Rudolph, Peter Britten, Felix Roy, and Jimmy Phelps completed the top 10.
