FULLER WINS OPENING NIGHT DIRT BIG BLOCK MODIFIED FEATURE BATTLE ROYAL

BREWERTON, NY…Tim Fuller claimed a thrilling 35-lap DIRT Big Block Modified feature win at Brewerton Speedway last Friday night during the 2004 season opener. Fuller held off a determined Vic Coffey to win his second straight season opener at the D-shaped DIRT Demon. The victory for the B&F General Machine team was worth $2,000.

Fuller jumped out to the early lead at the start of the DIRT Big Block Modified main event from the pole starting position. From the start Brewerton Speedway newcomer Gary Tomkins pressured Fuller. The duo ran side by side from the start with Fuller leading the first three circuits. Tomkins was the official race leader on lap four. Fuller regained the lead the following circuit.

With ten laps complete Fuller and Tomkins were being followed in the top five by Coffey, Alan Johnson and Billy Decker. At the halfway point Coffey slipped by Tomkins for the runner-up spot. Matt Sheppard, Chuck Bower, Ryan Phelps, Tom Sear

Fans witnessed a typical Brewerton Speedway battle during the final half of the main event. Fuller raced the bottom of the track, while Coffey raced the top part. The lead never officially changed hands, but Coffey inched ahead on several occasions with Fuller always able to move back ahead.

Fuller held on for the victory, while Coffey showed that he would be a threat every week at Brewerton Speedway with his second place finish. The debut of Tomkins to the weekly wars at Brewerton was also successful with a third place finish. Alan Johnson and Matt Sheppard completed the top five feature finishers in the highly competitive field.

Sean Lias claimed the 20-lap opening night IMCA Modified feature. George Valenti, Larry Robbins, Bob Ridgeway and Dale Caswell completed the top five feature finishers. Lias inherited the lead on lap 18 when leader Bob Bradt tangled with a lapped car.

Darren Forbes earned the victory in the 20-lap Dwarf Car / Mod Lite main event. Mike Isabell, Dan Williams, Tim Devendorf and Bob Garafolo followed Forbes across the finish line. Forbes led the entire feature distance in his Mod Lite racer from the third starting position. Doug Williams was the highest finishing Dwarf Car in the main event.

Jeff Herbert was the opening night feature winner in the 15-lap Four Cylinder Stock main event. Herbert led the entire distance. Chuck Powelczyk, Ken Klinkowsky, Dusty Wassner and Aaron Backus completed the top five feature finishers.
