ALAN JOHNSON’S FIFTH STRAIGHT BREWERTON DIRT MODIFIED FEATURE WIN COMES ON HOFMANN HOT HAUS/COORS LIGHT NIGHT

BREWERTON, NY…Alan Johnson won his fifth straight Big Block Modified feature at the D-shaped DIRT Demon last Friday night. Johnson took the lead away from Billy Decker on lap 22 and went on to yet another victory at Brewerton Speedway. Johnson earned $1,700 for the win in the Elaine James car on Hofmann Hot Haus/Coors Light Night.

Tony Buffa led the opening circuit of the Hofmann Hot Haus/Coors Light DIRT Modified feature from the pole starting position. Buffa only led the opening circuit before Chuck Hebing took command on lap two. After five laps Hebing continued to lead and was being followed in the top five by Buffa, Pat Ward, Decker and Mike Prentice.

Hebing led the opening seven laps before a hard charging Decker took over the top spot on lap eight. Decker wasted little time in moving up from the 11th starting position. At the halfway point Decker continued to lead and was being followed in the top five by Johnson, Ward, Hebing and Scott Prentice. For a while it appeared that Johnson didn’t have enough to overtake Decker.

On lap 22 Johnson made the move past Decker to take over the top spot. In the closing laps Decker was able to stay within striking distance of Johnson, but was never able to regain the lead. Decker had to settle for second behind Johnson with Tim McCreadie, Bob McCreadie and Chuck Bower completing the top five feature finishers.

Billy Dunn won his first ever Brewerton Speedway IMCA Modified feature race last Friday night. Sean Lias, Joe Price Jr., Mike Smith and Les Hubbard completed the top five feature finishers behind Dunn. On lap nine Dunn took the lead away from Keller and led the rest of the distance in the 20-lap event.

Joe Garafolo won his fourth Dwarf Car feature race of the season last Friday night. Jeff Isabell, Tod Simons, Bob Garafolo and Dan Boyce followed Joe Garafolo across the finish line. Joe Garafolo took the lead away from Jeff Isabell on lap 12 and went on to the win in the 15-lap event.

Roger West Sr. claimed his first Four Cylinder Stock feature victory of the 2002 season last Friday night. Chuck Powelczyk, Jeff Herbert, John West and Brain Evenden followed the winner across the finish line. West led the entire 15-lap distance in the caution free event.

Chad Guthrie claimed the win in the 25-lap Four Cylinder Enduro feature race last Friday night. Terry Engebretser, Sam Curcie, Ron Hunt and Jerry Herbert completed the top five feature finishers behind Guthrie. A total of 25-cars started the event.

Racing will continue this Friday at Brewerton Speedway with the DIRT Big Block Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds, Dwarf Cars and Four Cylinder Stocks all in competition. Ladies Races and a special Traffic Cone Race will also be contested. Race time is set for 7:30 p.m. For more information please call (315) 668-6906 or go on line to www.brewertonspeedway.com.
