TIM McCREADIE COMES FROM LAST TO FIRST TO SCORE DRAMATIC WIN AT BREWERTON ON SAM’S LAKESIDE/OSWEGO ASPHALT NIGHT
BREWERTON, NY…Tim McCreadie came back from a early race pit stop to score a dramatic win at Brewerton Speedway last Friday in the 35 lap DIRT Modified feature on Sam’s Lakeside Restaurant/Oswego Asphalt Night. The win for the second-generation driver from Watertown, N.Y. was truly impressive in the John Finch owned DIRT Modified. McCreadie earned $1,700 for his second win of the season at the D-shaped DIRT Demon.
Chuck Hebing raced out to the early lead at the start of the DIRT Modified feature from the outside pole starting position. Hebing led the opening five laps before Chuck Bower took over the top spot on lap six. Bower would only lead one circuit at this time, with Hebing back in the top spot on lap seven. Hebing and Bower were putting on a great show in racing for the lead side by side, lap after lap.
Bower took the lead back from Hebing on lap nine and this time the defending Brewerton Speedway Track Champion would lead until lap 11. Hebing took the lead away from Bower on lap 12 and that would stay the same through lap 16. Bower regained the lead on lap 17. At the halfway mark the lead duo was being followed by Tim Fuller, Scott Prentice and Bob McCreadie.
During the final 16 caution free laps several drivers appeared to have a shot at the win. The most noticeable were Bower, Fuller, Prentice, Billy Decker and Bob McCreadie. One of the drivers that appeared to be out of the hunt for the win was Tim McCreadie. With 15 laps to go he was running in the eighth position. With 10 laps left he was up to fifth and with five circuits remaining he was up to second.
The battle for the win between Bower and McCreadie now involved several lapped cars. Both drivers used any lane available, but it was clear that McCreadie held the advantage. On lap 33 McCreadie took the lead away from Bower and he was able to go on for the wild win in front of the largest crowd of the season. Bower had to settle for second with Prentice, Fuller and Decker completing the top five finishers.
John Hill won his second IMCA Modified feature of the season last Friday night in another exciting feature race. Hill was able to hold off the challenges of Brian House for the win. Bob Bradt, Tony Buffa and Mike Chilson completed the top five feature finishers. Hill took the lead away from House on lap 18 and went on for the win in the 20 lap event, which had six lead changes.
Tony Buffa won his seventh straight Dwarf Car feature race last Friday night. Bob Magner, Barry Virts, Scott Nash and Ken Gamlen completed the top five feature finishers behind Buffa. Buffa took the lead away from Virts on lap seven of the 20 lap contest and led the rest of the distance.
Dave Myrto won his first ever Four Cylinder Stock feature last Friday night. Myrto was followed across the finish line by Todd Williamson, Harvey Calkins Jr., Chris Smith and Bob Whipple. Myrto took the lead away from Williamson on lap 10 and went on for the popular 15 lap win.
