Chester Charges to the Front - Grabs Bridgeport Victory
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (August 6, 2005)- It was a battle of the big guns Friday Night at the Bridgeport Speedway with Jimmy Chester of Newfields, NJ holding off Jimmy Horton of Neshanic Station, NJ to pick up his second victory of the season, as RMP Powertrain Solutions presented an exciting night of racing action.
Tommy Beamer capitalized from his front row starting position leading the early stages of the 25 lap feature event, with Jimmy Chester and Wade Hendrickson riding fast on his heels. Cautions plagued the earlier stages of the feature event giving Chester the advantage at the halfway mark, slicing and dicing with Hendrickson for the top spot. Jimmy Horton, who came from the back twice after making two pit stops, made his presence known with two laps to go diving underneath Chester but a lapped car spoiled his efforts. Jimmy Chester in the C&H Motorsports #44 was all alone at the wave of the checkered picking up his first victory of the season. Horton finished in second for the eighth time this season, Hendrickson came home in third with Billy Pauch in Fourth and Brian Kressley rounding out the top five.
It was a 1-2 finish for "The Outlaws" as Eric Kormann of Vineland, NJ put the Rick Kostes owned RSK Construction #12 in Victory Lane in the GM Crate Sportsman feature event and Chad James came home second in the J&J Shop #27JR. Kormann traded paint with early leader Todd Kuhl to grab the top spot at the halfway mark. This marks the seventh victory of the season for "The Master Crater." James came home with a second place finish charging through the pack after a mid-race melee. John Micek came home in third with Kuhl settling for fourth and Norman Short coming home fifth.
It was a pair of first time season winners in the 600cc and 270cc Micro Sprint events.
In 600 action, Stewart Carmichael held off a hard charge from Robbie Stillwagon to pick up his first victory of the season. Stillwagon came home second with Bill Thomas, who maintains a string of strong top ten finishes, Sam Casella and Phil Meisner Jr. rounding out the top five
Jay Hartman dominated the 270cc Micro Sprint night cap running 3/10ths of a second faster than any other car on the speedway to pick up his first of the season. Frank Venezia, Jesse Hartman, John Blanda and Shaun Ratchford followed at the line.
Jim Hughes was the victor of the 4 Cylinder Stock feature event followed by Mike Hughes, Brian Crisman, Warren Stradley and Terry Sammons
