Gill and Tucker clinch track titles at the BOS

BROCKVILLE-A couple of drivers from New York State’s North Country claimed track championships on Friday night at Brockville Ontario Speedway. Lee Gill of LaFargeville is the 358 Modified Champion while Ben Tucker of Redwood is the Sportsman title holder for the year 2000.

Gill was his usual consistent self clinching the crown with a solid second place finish in the 30 lap Modified feature. Dale Planck of Homer NY won for the fifth time at Brockville this season in his brand spanking new Bicknell 2001 chassis. Planck started 14th and took the lead from Rich Hall of Athens just prior to a caution at the halfway point and led the rest of the way. Hall was third in front of Jeff Sykes of Edwards Ny and Chico Dingwall of Brockville.

Tucker showed a little more flair, charging back from having his bumper ripped off in a early race incident to capture the 20 lap Sportsman main. Tucker passed rookie Gil Evoy of Athens with 4 laps to go. Evoy was second just in front of Adam Moore of Elgin. The race was marred by a serious accident when Kyle Wilson of Joyceville caught the back wheel of Greg Bauder of Kingston. Wilson went airborne over the side of the Bauder car. Bauder was slightly shaken in the accident.

Randy Earl of Brockville won his 7th Pro Stock feature of the year. Earl was involved in a classic duel with Mark Therrien of Alexandria for many laps finally taking the lead with 3 to go. Therrien was second with Ron Morin of Cornwall rounding out the top 3.

Spencerville’s John Mulder went wire to wire to capture the 10 lap Novice event. Todd Raabe of Pembroke and Barry Baker of Portland were second and third respectively. Rhonda Fletcher of Renfrew took the special 5 lap Powder Puff event.

The next event at Brockville Ontario Speedway will feature the Modifieds, Antiques, Novice and Pro Stock in competition next Friday night at 7:30
