STEVE HARTMAN SR.WINS ON MULTI MEDIA SERVICES NIGHT AT THE WOODHULL RACEWAY

Marlatt, Foth, Dgien, Davis, Koerner also collect the checkered flag

WOODULL, NY….. A big ole grin was all it took to tell the tale of just how happy Steve Hartman Sr. was when climbing out of his 358 Modified Saturday night. With an up and down season, it was good to see him back in winner’s circle once again. His win didn’t come easy as early on in the 25 lap event , Frank Dunning blasted to the front right from the start and appeared to be the car to beat. These two drivers battled back and forth for the top spot. Stacy Jackson soon joined the fun and grabbed second away from Dunning to challenge for the lead. Jackson fought hard to pass Hartman Sr. but settled for second right up until Ron Cartwright Jr. appeared. What a rocket this driver had. Starting from the 14th spot, Cartwright Jr. was battling Hartman Jr. on the last lap. Hartman Sr. held on for the win with Cartwright Jr. close second. Jackson crossed third with Dunning and Tom Austin finishing 4th and 5th . The folks from Multi Media Services were on hand this week to sponsor the nights activities.

Seventeen cars took to the track to run the Napa Super Stock 20 lap feature with Scott Brown leading the charge. Brown led several laps from the pole until Rich Marlatt passed him going to halfway. A good run also for Mike Hifiger as he too climbed his way into the lead pack. Marlatt took a commanding lead over the rest of the field to capture another victory for the 2005 season. Hifiger was second with Brown holding 3rd . Glenn Writenour and Bob Clark had great finishing positions, 4th and 5th . They both started mid way.

The Central New York Mini Sprints were back for their annual visit to the high banks of the Woodhull Raceway facility. Twenty four sprints started their 20 lap feature with Pat Koerner on the pole. Koerner went flag to flag with out being passed to collect the checkered flag. Skip Travis finished second followed by Don Harvey, Bob Scaccio, and Daniel Lampron finishing in the top five.

Tony Foth can finally breathe a sigh of relief as he took the checkered flag for the first time. It was only a matter of time for him to find victory lane as this young driver had been finishing in the top ten consistently. The Morgan’s Atuo Repair Street Stocks was lead to the line by Dave Davis to start their 20 lap feature.Three wide action right from the get go as they came around to put lap 1 in the record books. Points leader Dan Gordan and Cliff Moss got tangled on the front stretch to put them to the back of the field early on.Foth’s victory didn’t come easy as he had to fight off a hard charging Ron Divens who stuck to him like glue. Great side by side racing with these two drivers with Mike Williams, Jerry Buckley and Brian Knowles not too far behind. Foth pulled away form the field for the checked flag with Divens and Williams coming in 2nd and 3rd . Fourth was Buckley and a great run for Gordan as he climbed his way from last to a fifth finish.

Joe Dgien had an eventful evening as well as his crew had to struggle to even get him into the heat race as he had busted his car up during hot lap activities early on in the evening. Not only did he get into his heat race, but also won it.Dgien led the Signs Plus Mini Stocks out of the woods to run their 20 lap race and had a dominating car. The only other driver to even come close to a challenge was Mike Thompson as with three laps, caught Dgien, but just couldn’t get the pass done. Caution with 2 laps to go was the last thing Dgien wanted to see, but he held on for the win with Thompson second. Bill VanEtten came home third with Dennis Erdmann and Don Knowles rounding out the top five.

The S&W Awards and Photos Warriors ran their 10 lap feature early on with Bryce Davis taking top honors. Davis took the lead early and held on with Tom Austin Jr. and Shane Pickering taking 2nd and 3rd . Casey Pavilik came in third with Brett Marlatt finishing in the fifth spot.
