'BAREFOOT' BOB MCCREADIE FINDS THUNDER ALLEY VICTORY LANE
EVANS MILLS, NY.....He may have led every lap, but the win in Thursday night's 30-lap DIRT Modified feature event at Caprara's Thunder Alley Speedpark in Evans Mills was by no means easy.
McCreadie grabbed the lead and had Alan Johnson hounding him through the first half of the race until the leaders hit lapped traffic. In traffic, Steve Paine slipped under Johnson to grab the runnerup spot and he began to pressure McCreadie for the lead.
The race was slowed by only one caution on lap 24, and on the restart, McCreadie motored away from Paine to record the win. Paine and Johnson followed, with Vic Coffey outlasting Frank Caprara Jr. in a race long battle for fourth.
DIRT Modified heats were won by Bob McCreadie and Johnson.
The 20-lap DIRT Sportsman feature saw Lance Willix as the class of the field, fending off challenges from Jim Kite and Scott Parliament for the feature win in a race with no caution flags. Last week's winner Chad Phelps took home the fourth position, while Jack Meeks nabbed the fifth spot after pulling an outside lane pass on Jason Potter in the closing laps.
DIRT Sportsman heats were won by Willix and Kyle Dingwall.
The 20-lap IMCA Modified feature began with Chris Taylor nabbing the top spot, while Chris Thurston and George Valenti battled furiously for the second position. Sean Lias worked his way into contention by halfway, moving past the duo to set sail after leader Taylor.
A bobble by the leade allowed Lias to slip underneath in turn two to grab the lead with a few laps to go to claim his second straight Thunder Alley win. Dale Caswell moved into second, with early leader Taylor settling for third. Thurston and Valenti rounded out the top five.
The IMCA Modified heat was won by Taylor.
The Dwarf cars made their first appearance of the 2004 season at Thunder Alley, and in their 15-lap feature event, DJ Forbes battled all race long with Dan Williams and Mike Isabell and held off both drivers to score the win. Jeff Barker and Steve Miller completed the top five.
Dwarf car heats were won by Mike Isabell and Forbes.
The Junior Modified Lite 6-lap feature went to Jordan Keruskie for his second win of the season. Keruskie was trailed by Joe Abass and Taylor Caprara.
Racing action will continue at Thunder Alley Speedpark this Thursday, May 6 with the DIRT Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, IMCA Modifieds, and Junior Modified Lites. Gates will open at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 7 p.m.
