JOHNSON WINS SECOND STRAIGHT AT FULTON ON RAYMOND'S CAR CARE NIGHT

FULTON, NY...Alan Johnson won his second straight DIRT 358 Modified feature at Fulton Speedway last Saturday on Raymond's Car Care Night. It was the third win of the season for the defending Track Champion at the home of the Victoria 200. Johnson's latest win came in the Maroney Motorsports owned, Bicknell Racing Products sponsored DIRT 358 Modified. The win was worth $1,500.

Tyke Morris raced out to the early lead at the start of the Raymond's Car Care DIRT 358 Modfified feature from the pole starting position. Morris, a DIRT 358 Modified rookie, was having his best outing ever on the Fulton Speedway high banks and he would lead the first seven circuits. Tim Burnett took the lead away from Morris on lap eight.

The race was stopped early for two multi-car accidents. The first accident involved Pete Taylor, Doug Fuller and Mark Yorker. The second major incident involved Jim Witko Jr., Ryan Baye and Jim Burke. All drivers escaped without injury, but several cars were damaged in the two separate incidents. When racing resumed Burnett was looking for his second win of the season, but several drivers had a different plan.

Jimmy Phelps took the top spot away from Burnett on lap 16. At the halfway point of the main event Phelps continued to lead with Johnson now up to second. Burnett, Jim Mahaney, John Ramsey, Matt Sheppard, Jeff Rudalavage, J.J. Michaels, Morris and John Barker raced in positions third through tenth at the halfway stage.

Johnson took the lead away from Phelps on lap 19. Johnson started from the 17th position and worked his way through the field patiently. Once in front Johnson opened up a comfortable lead and went on to his third win of the season. Phelps won a tight battle over Sheppard for second. Mahaney and Burnett completed the top five feature finishers. Rudalavage, Tom Sears Jr., Ramsey, Barker and Michaels finished in positions sixth through tenth respectively.

Tim Sears won his seventh DIRT Sportsman feature of 2001 last Saturday night. Sears was followed by Gordy Button, Tom Juhl, Shane Donath and Bill Shantel Jr. Sears took the lead away from John Cunningham on lap eight and led the rest of the 20 lap distance.

John Pietrowicz won his fourth Pro Stock feature of the season last Saturday night. Pietrowicz won out over Jerry Holmes, Dave Bruno, Jeremy Clark and T.J. Fitzgibbons. Pietrowicz took the lead away from Holmes on lap eight and led the rest of the way in the 20 lap event.

Jeff Pastorella won his sixth Pure Stock feature race of the season last Saturday night. Todd Koegel, Darren Kelso, Russ Marsden and Paul Mercier completed the top five finishers behind Pastorella. Pastorella took the lead away from Koegel on lap two and led the rest of the distance in the 15 lap affair.
