BRACE WINS PRO-TRUCK 50, PAINE CONTINUES MOD DOMINATION

DUNDEE,N.Y......Steve Paine continues his domination of the Modified divisionat the Black Rock Speedway last Friday as he picked up another win. Steve Brace was the big winner in the Regional International Pro-Truck 50 lap feature event. Dale Welty put his ageless 1-2-3 in victory lane again in thePPG Super-Stocks. IN 4 Cyl. Stock racing, Jack Ayres and Phil Yaw were the winners, while Joey Kurtz picked up the win in the Black Rock Bandits on Martin Chevrolet night.

It's "Hurricane" season in Dundee, as Steve Paine continues to storm the Modified field at the Black Rock Speedway. Paine took the lead on lap 9 in turn three, and everybody was fighting for left overs after that. Doug Mattison jumped out to the early lead in the Twin Tier Lumber #15. Bryon Turner was up to second quickly and he began to challenge Mattison for the early lead. On lap 5 there was jingle in turn 2 that saw Brian Polmanteer's 33 pop up in the air, Paine barley avoided contact in this incident. Three laps later there was a major pile up in turn 4 involving Doug Mattison, Ron White, Charlie Donk, Stacy Jackson, and Chuck Graham. On the restart, Paine took the lead that he held to the checkers. Bryon Turner held on for second, third was Tim Sebring, fourth went to Aaron Jacobus, and Matt Sheppard filled out the top five. Heats were won by Charlie Donk, Bryon Turner, and Tim Sebring.

Steve Brace was the winner in the first long distance event for the all new Pro-Truck division. He picked up the win in the Regional Pro Truck 50. At the drop of the green, pole sitter Ron Divens jumped out to the early lead, and Bry Weiskoff was right on his tailgate. These two battled for several laps, and then began to pull away from the rest of the field. Lap 10 saw Weiskoff took the lead, with Divens second, third was Eddie Machuga, and Steve Brace was fourth. He continued to move his Sunrise Express up to the second position, and began to put pressure on Divens. Brace and Divens continued to battle for the lead until the 1/2 way point when Brace took over the top spot. Once out in front Brace pulled away from the field and took the big win. Ron Divens held on for second, third was Bry Weiskoff, fourth was Billy Wilson, and Les Smith. Heats were won by Ron Divens, and Fred Buckley.

Dale Welty is still on a roll in 2000, as he continues his winning ways in the PPG Super-Stocks. He had to work for the win as Sparky Hills put on his best drive of the season and was at the top of the field until he got a little out of shape in turn three on lap 16, and Welty took the lead he would hold to the checkered flag. Hills held on for second, third was Mike Carapella, Cam Sutherland was fourth, and Dave Fultz filled out the top five. Heats were won by Chris Daugherty, Sparky Hills, and Dale Welty.

In 4 Cyl. Stock racing, Jack Ayres was the winner of the first feature. He was followed by Don Potter in second, third was Bruce Akins, fourth was Joe Carlineo, and Donnie Lawson filled out the top five. In the second feature, Phil Yaw took another win, Eddie Mills was second, third was Karl Weichenthal, Jake Clancey got fourth, and Mike Buchanan was fifth. Heats were won by Jack Ayres, Travis Grover, and Jake Clancey.

Joe Kurtz picked up his second win of the season with a great drive in the Black Rock Bandits, Serenity Sutherland also had a good race and finished second, third was Ray Spiecher, fourth went to, Adam Austin, and Steven Ovens continues his good runs with a fifth place finish.
