MIKE RICCI WINS SECOND STRAIGHT FEATURE AT LAKE MOC-A-TEK

Defending track champion Mike Ricci picked up his second consecutive

358 Modified feature win Saturday night on Pocono Raceway night at the

Lake Moc-A-Tek Speedway. Butch Getz picked up his first career win in

Sportsman action while Joe Krisovich came home the winner of the Street

Stock feature, his first of the season. Terry Schaffer won his second

250cc Micro Sprint feature and Keith Villano won his first Pure Stock

feature of the season.

Ricci dominated what turned out to be a wild 358 Modified feature.

Ricci wasted little time in getting to the front of the field as he

passed early race leader Everett Haubrich in the very early stages of the

event. Out front was the place to be as this turned out to be wild

feature which saw the red flag displayed twice, both for multi-car wrecks

that blocked the speedway. Once out front Ricci was dominant cruising

to victory aboard his Apple Greens Golf Course/Gen Plus Electric Teo Pro

Car. Haubrich also enjoyed a strong run as he brought home a runner-up

finish behind Ricci. Bill Reese claimed third with Tom Oleski and Brian

Malcolm rounding out the top five finishing order. Dom Roselli, Brian

Cobb, Joey Grammes, Troy Weisenfluh, and Bill Grammes completed the top

ten.

Butch Getz became a first time winner in Sportsman action as he

drove the Bob Grammes owned #15 to victory in the 20 lap Sportsman

feature. Getz earned the win as he was challenged all the way by Joey

Grammes, the winner of the first two Sportsman events of the 2002 season.

Getz, a longtime mechanic on the Bob Grammes #15, is driving the car in

2002 and made the most of the opportunity, winning in only the third race

of the season. Joey Grammes came home second trailed by Rocky Rosetti,

Tom Laner Jr., and rookie sensation Kevin Bates, who picked up his first

career top five. Alex Konopka finished sixth ahead of Troy Moyer,

newcomer Peter Booth, Mike Loney, and Tom Gervasi.

Joe Krisovich drove his #911 to victory in the Street Stock ranks.

For most of the race Krisovich and Bill Price Jr. battled for the top

spot in a tight battle. Unfortunately for Price, mechanical problems

derailed his strong run just a couple of laps from the end. This allowed

Jim Redner to take over the second spot. Redner, wheeling the Chillot

#9, tried his best to make a run at Krisovich, but Joe was too strong and

sprinted to victory ahead of Redner and Grant Hilfiger, who turned in his

best run of the young season to finish third. David Luff and Adam Jones

completed the top five. Brian Petrilak, Ed Kudrako, Jim Hughes, Eric

Moon, and Greg Buchannon completed the top ten running order.

Terry Schaffer won his second straight 250cc Micro Sprint feature.

Schaffer ran down and passed Todd Roberson for the top spot just past the

halfway point of the event. Roberson lost a good finish in the closing

laps as he was forced to retire with mechanical problems late in the

event. With Roberson's misfortunes, Eric Palmer moved into the runner-up

position but was not able to make a run at Schaffer. Davie Franek

recovered from both an early race penalty for a restart infraction and a

rollover later in the event to finish third while Ralph Utter Jr.. also

overcame a penalty for a restart infraction to place fourth. Opening

night winner Mike Keppler charged from the final starting position to

finish fifth. Stephanie Stevens, Greg Stevens, Fred Venezia, Pat Potter

and Kevin Nolf rounded out the top ten.

Keith Villano found himself in the right place at the right time to

walk away with a feature win in the Pure Stock division. Jay Martin

dominated the majority of the event, holding as much as a half lap lead

before spinning out of the lead just three laps from the end of the

event. This turned the lead over to Villano, who led the final three

laps to pick up the win. Franklin Bush came home second with Floyd

Schmidt third. Jim Balutis and John Walsh finished fourth and fifth.

Racing continues this Saturday night at Lake Moc-A-Tek with a full
