Gill bounces back, Moore holds off Wilson at Brockville
BROCKVILLE-It didn’t take Lee Gill long to bounce back from a nasty accident last Saturday night. The two time defending track champion returned to victory lane on Friday night at Brockville Ontario Speedway and grabbed a qualifying spot for Super DIRT week in Syracuse at the same time.
It was vintage Gill as he made one of his patented restarts on the top of the race track that vaulted him from 4th to 1st on lap 5. He proceeded to scorch the track with lap after lap in the 15 and a half second range to win the 30 lap feature. The race was halted early after a multi car pileup in turn 2 that inflicted heavy damage on the car of Stephane LaFrance and also took out Todd Stewart and Brian Rogers who were both fast on this night. Scott Parliament ended up second followed by Mark Hitchcock, Jeff Sykes and Paul Pekkonen.
Adam Moore had the breaks go his way as the two cars in front of him on a restart both were forced from their positions by mechanical woes as he took the victory in the 20 lap Sportsman event. The Elgin driver was pressured in the final 10 circuits by Kyle Wilson but Moore never gave the Joyceville Cadet an opportunity to get by. Kyle Dingwall, Darren Catallier and Randy Earl rounded out the top 5.
Kees VanWinden continues to lead the way in the Novice division holding onto the points lead with a convincing run through the field to victory. A nifty move in late traffic gave Charles Barkley second in the 15 lapper with John Simmons, Roger Bushey and Shane Ray third through fifth respectively.
Rosco Garreau went wire to wire to take the 10 lap Rookie main event just in front of Danielle Legault. Joseph Banks, Jamie Eglinton and Brad Kirkland made up the rest of the fast five.
The BOS returns to action next Friday night with a full race program in all four divisions. The green flag drops at 7:30.
