Frogtown Wins go to Dave Heaslip, Mark Therrien and Louie Jackson

HOGANSBURG, NY..6/15/97....Dave Heaslip of Smiths Falls, Ontario picked up his second feature win in the modified division coming out on top of a field of 23 modifieds. Heaslip is the only repeat winner in the division this season.

The feature started with heat winners Rob Winters and Sandy Roberts in the first row. Roberts took over the lead by the first lap. The first of many cautions came on lap 2 when Bill Woodward spun around on turn 4. Kyle Jacobs rocketed up from fourth on the restart to take over top spot. Every attempt to pull away from the field was halted by cautions. Brian McDonald, Rob Winters, Craig Ormsby and Delbert Legrow tangled on lap 8 causing a red flag caution when Winters hit the sideways car of McDonald and went end over end coming to rest on his roof. Winters emerged unhurt. Jacobs looked uncatchable turning

several 17.2 second laps until he slowed with mechanical problems on lap 11 and had to pit. Dave Heaslip inherited the lead. A second red flag caution came on lap 17 when Rookie driver, Joel Doiron, caught the groove on turn 4 and rolled onto his roof. Roy Tarbell, who followed Heaslip on the restart, had to battle to keep Mike Perrotte in third. Perrotte got by on lap 22 to finish second. The cool weather caused the track to remain tacky and fast evidenced by Heaslip clocking in a 16.98 second lap.

The Midstate Antique Stock Car Club had 13 cars on the track for a 15 lap feature. Ally Amell, Chris Broghn and Brian Fish gained a half a track lead over the rest of the pack. The side by side battle lasted through 13 laps when both Fish and Broghn had mechanical problems that sent them to the pits.

Mark Therrien succeeded in winning his first feature in the Late Model division this season. He took over the lead on lap 2 after two cautions. John Faucault came close several times but couldn't catch him. Ron Morin kept up with the leaders making several bids for second but had to pit on the lap 9 restart allowing Dave Bisonnette to take over third.

The Novice division had only its third different feature winner this season. Louie Jackson gained the lead on the first lap but lost it again to Jody Swamp. Points Leader and three time winner Joel Herne lost a tire on lap 2 causing Jackson to go airborne off turn 2. Jackson managed to get back on the track in second spot. Swamp kept the lead through lap 5 when he overheated and pitted. Jackson took over with Ray Chubb and Charles Thompson finishing second and third.

West Front Construction and Louis Bray Construction sponsor next week's Saturday night events with a regular show for all classes and the Kiddies Tire Race. The green flag drops at 7:30 p.m.
